Protecting Our Children

We provide education in many critical areas that affect the lives of children, such as motor vehicle safety, pedestrian safety, bike helmet and community family fire programs.

The Council served as the lead organization for the New Jersey Safe Kids Coalition from its inception in New Jersey up until December 2011, and worked to educate communities and families in key child safety issues. We supported and worked with many partners to help educate our Legislature on ways to protect children while in the car and around the home.

The New Jersey State Safety Council led the effort to pass legislation requiring seat belts in school buses. The Council also led the movement in bike helmet legislation. Head injuries among children 14 years and younger dropped 60% after the bill was passed.

The Council needs your help so our programs can reach more families and communities. Only with your support can we continue our mission to prevent accidental deaths and injuries.
